i am looking for a good home for this little girl stray.
i’d keep her myself but i don’t want to be the crazy cat lady.
so let me know if you want a gorgeous little kitten with golden eyes.
this photo was part of a photo shoot i did for a family that i just adore.
they are some of my favorite peoples in all the world.
you can see more photos here.
finished off a cardigan for a store sample the other day.
it’s called the “lodi cardigan” knit in malabrigo worsted.
soft as a cloud, dreamy to knit and wear.
we celebrated this thanksgiving the way we celebrate every thanksgiving.
at my sister’s place. well, every other-she and my mom switch christmas and thanksgiving hosting duties.
anyway, she and her husband make the best turkeys.
they smoke one and fry the other.
one has perfectly fried skin, the inside is nice and moist.
the other tastes delicious. the meat tastes like bacon.
well, i suppose it just reminds me of bacon, but hey-a heaping serving of bacony flavored turkey?!
below, the fried one.
below, the smoked one.
mashed potatoes, cranberries
i made brussel sprouts, but no picture. how about this orange & pomegranate dish?
there were also pies, and someone made cupcakes!
hope you had a happy thanksgiving too!
i like doing laundry.
i like ironing.
i can use it as an excuse to knit and watch the television.
well, you can’t knit and iron, but you get the idea.
anyway, i made my own detergent the other day using a recipe that ashley posted.
it was pretty easy, and once made, i poured it into my old laundry detergent container with the pour spout.
the nice part is saving money, and using the individual ingredients for other uses.
next i’ll be making homemade dishwasher detergent once my old store bought runs out.
this is the post about out of africa.
i got to hold this little girl. her spikes actually are rather soft. just for show.
this one’s spikes are real though.
big kitty yawn
they had this lady little in a large pen where you could feed her for a fee. and pet her.
the tiger splash time was a little different because t was so cold.
they had toys and hoses and played with the cats like big kitties.
big kitties that could eat you.
we went on a safari and our driver miles stopped several times to give the animals treats.
this is boom boom. rescued from a hunt.
we got to pet and feed zebra.
by the way, they are black with white stripes.
a big treat was the giraffe-he was super wrinkly-miles said he was part sharpei.
the little town of jerome is pretty rad if you’ve never been there.
it sits on a hill and the main drag is lined with shops, bars, restaurants, and galleries.
it’s a bit quirky.
alyssa, bree, and i grabbed a snack at quince.
had a sampler plate with mushroom nachos, stuffed potato wedges, and quesadillas.
and a piece of pecan pie laced with bourbon.
i went to jerome recently with a handful of friends.
three of us drove up a few hours early, and we spent some time at the jerome state historic park.
the museum focuses on the history of mining in the town of jerome, and the building is inside the old mansion of james s. douglas.
there are a lot of rock exhibits.
for example, below is a breakfast display made up of rocks.
below is a photo of a model of the town of jerome.
the really interesting part is the lower half of the model which reveals the deposits which were mined.
arizona used to issue license plates made of pure copper.
they still have much of the old equipment around the property, including mining carts.
the highlight of the museum though is the mine shaft covered with glass. you can stand on it.
it goes down into the earth farther than the empire state building is tall. you can’t even see to the bottom.
you can see the hotel in which we stayed at the top of the hill.
