Most of the time in Arizona in the winter, it’s a balmy seventy degrees. But today, Google tells me it’s actually zero degrees. It’s okay though because tomorrow it will be back to normal.

MLK day
I encourage you to spend some time reading, listening, or watching videos relating to Martin Luther King Jr. today. A friend of mine has put together a wonderful post that includes links, videos and quotes. Please honor the significance of the day by learning something new about who Dr. King was. He was an incerdible orator and trulyunderstood the power of nonviolence.
The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral, begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy. Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it. Through violence you may murder the liar, but you cannot murder the lie, nor establish the truth. Through violence you may murder the hater, but you do not murder hate.
the eden sisters
The Eden sisters always have their cameras, so they hardly ever seem to have pictures of themselves. I realized I didn’t even have a folder in my computer designated for them when I tried to save my photos. Poor sisters!
Check out their new website.
groovy. I mean gravy.
Uhm. Gravy is awesome. You know it.
steamy kitchen contest
heads up–jaden over at the Steamy Kitchen has a random comment contest running for some sweet kitchen prizes: kobe beef, rainbow wood bread knife, salt planks, photo canvas, and olive oil and vinegar…mmm…everything I love.
I love her blog because she features amazing recipes, sassy commentary, and food photography.
war is over if you want it
Today was the anniversary of John Lennon’s murder.
I was not aware of the commitment that he and Yoko Ono had to peace and non-violence. These things are close to my heart, and I spent some time today watching a video posted on imaginepeace.com. I also printed out a small poster to hang among my Christmas cards of the season. Their technique of using advertising is fascinating to me. I encourage you to watch the video. It’s a bit heart wrenching at the end, but very powerful.

google reader
So I wrote off using blog feeds a long time ago because I didn’t like not seeing the post in context of the website. But then I read a post that suggested using a feature of Google’s reader called “next.” You place it in your bookmarks, and click on it. It brings you to each updated post in the actual website. Then you click on “next” again, and it takes you to the next updated site. Awesome!
I used it for the first time today, and at the very end, this is the page it took me to. And this was the text:
The End of the Internet
Congratulations! This is the last page.
Thank you for visiting the End of the Internet. There are no more links.
You must now turn off your computer and go do something productive.
Go read a book, for pete’s sake.
finally
I uploaded and labeled most of my pictures from the trip to Europe. My sister may be sending me some of her files, but as of right now, this is what I’ve got. Peruse at your leisure–it’s probably really dry.
Some of you did want me to sit with you and go over them. Maybe I will invite myself to Kelli’s house, and Zack will let me use the projector and I can bore everyone. But at least we can all drink while I do it.
(By the way, I used folionow.com to create my website.)
